**Job Highlights:** The Opportunity SSM Health – Waupun Regional Hospital is actively recruiting a part-time (.5 FTE) CRNA to join our anesthesia department. There are currently 5 CRNA’s. CRNA’s at Waupun Memorial function as independent anesthesia providers, and are responsible for planning and executing anesthesia plans (including proficiency in regional anesthesia), responding to adverse reactions and emergencies, and collaborating with the healthcare professional team. **The Hospital:** Waupun Memorial Hospital is a 25-bed hospital, which provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient services to Waupun and surrounding rural areas. The hospital was dedicated in 1951 as a tribute to veterans in both world wars and to serve the needs of the city of Waupun and its surrounding areas. A state-of-the-art surgery area features three high-tech operating rooms, an endoscopy procedure room, 11 pre/postoperative patient rooms, four post-anesthesia recovery rooms and centralized sterile processing area. Waupun Memorial Hospital’s staff of associates and volunteers is dedicated to providing services in the areas of laboratory, cardiopulmonary, rehabilitation, radiology, ultrasound, MRI, surgical, emergency, outpatient dialysis, medical/surgical services, intensive care and obstetrics.

**Job Summary:** Under the direction of anesthesiologist(s), assess, plans, coordinates, and implements and evaluates patients receiving anesthetic care.

**Job Responsibilities and Requirements:**

– **PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**
– Reviews schedule and administers anesthesia to patients assigned.
– Makes pre-op evaluations on all patients assigned to his/her care. Studies chart for results of history and physical, medical consults, and pre-op tests, to determine probable effects of anesthesia on the patient, and takes appropriate actions to correct abnormalities if possible. Initiates EKG, blood pressure and pulse oximeter monitors prior to induction.
– Assists in positioning patient on operating table, taking care to protect the patient from injury.
– Induces anesthesia on direction of attending surgeon.
– Administers anesthesia under direction and supervision of anesthesiologist in collaboration with surgeon. Supports life functions during the administration of anesthesia, including induction and intubation. Maintains anesthesia at appropriate levels. Administers no more than one anesthetic at a time.
– Provides appropriate pre-anesthesia and post-anesthesia management of the patient.
– Recognizes and takes appropriate corrective action (including requisitioning consultation when necessary) for abnormal patient responses to anesthesia or to any adjunctive medication or therapy. Provides professional observation and resuscitative care (including requesting consultation when necessary) until the patient has regained control of his vital functions. Provide other forms of patient care, such as emergency intubation, inhalation therapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as needed.
– Record all pertinent data on the anesthesia record. Inform PACU nurse of patient’s condition and any expected problems. Keep surgeon informed of patient’s condition at all times.
– Follows established infection control guidelines and reports safety hazards for immediate resolution
– Assembles necessary supplies and equipment needed, and tests equipment to assure proper function prior to commencing anesthesia. Disassembles and cleans equipment according to policies of the department. Requisition necessary equipment, supplies, adjustments and repairs.
– Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
– Performs other duties as assigned.

**EDUCATION:** Master’s degree in a health care related field or Advanced Practice Provider Certificate

**EXPERIENCE:** One year nursing experience

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:**
– Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
– Constant standing and walking.
– Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

Job Summary
Responds to the anesthetic needs of patients and coordinates their care with other perioperative personnel during the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases. Administers anesthesia services to patients for medical and surgical procedures relevant to the facility under the medical direction of staff anesthesiologist. Responds to the emergent airway management within the facility as needed. May be on-call, either in-house or from home, as required by the facility.

Accountabilities
• Formulates anesthetic plan with anesthesiologist. Discusses plan and the risks, benefits, and options with the patient. Prepares for the administration of anesthetic and implementation of plan. – 15%
• Performs special line placement procedures granted within the guidelines for the practice setting, including but not to limited intravenous and arterial line insertion. – 10%
• Documents appropriate data on pre-anesthesia assessment. Documents intraoperative anesthesia care on intra-op anesthesia record, including but not limited to charting vital signs, drug deliveries, fluid and blood deliveries, fluid loss, events and their times, and appropriate comments. Documents appropriate charges, quality indicators, and controlled substance disbursement use and waste. – 25%
• Maintains age specific competence in anesthesia technical skills appropriate for the practice setting. Skills include (but not limited to) airway management, induction, blocks, and general anesthesia. – 20%
• Maintains and acquires new knowledge of anesthesia pharmacology (including new drugs), anesthesia modalities, techniques, and technology. – 15%
