Job Description
Plumas District Hospital, a small rural critical access facility in Northern California, is seeking an experienced Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) for a flexible PRN position. This solo role offers excellent compensation, a quiet practice environment, and full travel and lodging reimbursement. Ideal for independent CRNAs seeking a low-volume, autonomous practice in a scenic mountain community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide solo anesthesia coverage for a light caseload, including general surgery and podiatry cases.
- Perform occasional GI procedures using propofol sedation.
- Manage emergency department (ED) airways and provide sedation for closed reductions or minor trauma as needed.
- Be available for 24-hour coverage with minimal call-backs (less than 30 cases per month).
- Maintain accurate anesthesia records and uphold high patient care standards in a small, supportive hospital environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- $1,700 per 24-hour shift
- All travel and lodging expenses reimbursed
- 1099 independent contractor status
- Flexible scheduling (typically 1–3 weeks at a time)
- Perm Part-Time, PRN, or PT Locum options available
- Low case volume and minimal call-backs
Job Requirements
- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
- Active California CRNA license required
- Minimum 10 years of independent practice experience
- Proficiency in general, GI, and emergency anesthesia
- Comfortable practicing solo in a critical access hospital setting
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with a small clinical team
Schedule & Work Environment
- PRN position with flexible, short-term scheduling (typically 1–3 weeks per assignment)
- 24-hour coverage with every night on first call
- Light caseload of fewer than 30 cases per month
