PRN CRNA – $1,700/Day | Solo Practice | Plumas District Hospital
Job Description
Plumas District Hospital, a small rural critical access hospital in Northern California, is seeking an experienced Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) for a flexible PRN assignment. This solo CRNA position offers an excellent work-life balance, light caseload, and a relaxed practice environment in a scenic mountain community. Ideal for independent providers with extensive anesthesia experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide solo anesthesia coverage for light surgical and procedural caseloads, including general surgery and podiatry.
- Perform occasional GI cases with propofol sedation.
- Manage occasional emergency department (ED) airway and sedation procedures for minor trauma or reductions.
- Oversee anesthesia-related responsibilities for 24-hour shifts with rare callbacks.
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold high standards of patient safety and care.
Compensation & Benefits
- $1,700 per 24-hour shift
- All travel and lodging expenses reimbursed
- 1099 independent contractor status
- Flexible scheduling (1–3 weeks at a time)
- Low case volume — less than 30 cases per month

Job Requirements
- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
- Active California CRNA license required
- Minimum of 10 years of independent CRNA experience
- Comfortable practicing solo in a critical access hospital environment
- Strong clinical skills in general anesthesia, sedation, and emergency airway management
Schedule & Work Environment
- PRN position with flexible coverage (typically 1–3 weeks at a time)
- 24-hour solo coverage with minimal callbacks
- Low surgical volume, primarily bread-and-butter cases
- Quiet, non-stressful environment in a supportive rural hospital
